Extended information text on cookies use

This site uses technical cookies to grant the correct working of procedures and to improve the user experience online. This document gives you information on cookies use and similar technologies, on how they have been used in this site and how to manage them.

Definition

The cookies are little text files which the visited sites send to the users to their devices, where they are stored to be sent back to the same sites at the next visit. Instead, the so called “Third parties” cookies are set by a different web site. In fact, on every site there could be elements (images, maps, sounds, specific link to web pages on other domains, and so on) which reside on other sites, different to those of the visited site.

Cookie Types

According to the characteristics and the use there could be different categories:

  • Technical cookies
They are cookies strictly necessary to make the site work, used to deliver the services in a better way and to improve your browsing experience.
According to the Italian Privacy Guarantor and laws, the use of these cookies does not require your consent: surfing the website, the user implicitly agrees to the use of these cookies.
These cookies will then be used anytime and sent, unless a user does not modify the settings of your browser, (see later) being aware that this will affect the display of web pages.
  • Profiling cookies
Profiling cookies are a to track your navigation on the site and are used to send advertising messages in line with the preferences implicitly expressed as part of surfing the web. According to italian law, the use of these cookies requires adequate information and a request for consent from the user’s site.

“Third parties” cookies

An example is the presence of “social plugin” for Facebook, Twitter, Google+ or Instagram, or embedded media display systems such as Youtube. This parts are generated directly by the third part sites and integrated into the web page of the host site. The presence of these plugins involves the transmission of cookies to and from all sites operated by third parties. Cookies duration
Some cookies (session cookies) remain active only until you close the browser or log out the execution of any command. Other cookies “survive” even if the browser is closed, and they are also available in future visits. These are called persistent cookies, and their duration is set by the server at the time of their creation. In some cases there is fixed a deadline, in other cases the duration is unlimited.
Cookies management
The user can decide whether to accept cookies using his browser settings, being aware that the total or partial disabling of technical cookies could affect proper use of the site.
Disabling the “third party” cookies does not prejudge in any way the navigability. Some content may, however, not be available.
The setting can be defined specifically for the different sites and web applications. Moreover the browsers allow you to define different settings for owner cookies and those of “third parties”. On the internet there is readily available documentation on how to set the cookies management rules for every browser, but as non-exhaustive examples below we give some guidelines for the main browsers:
